Join Custom Education Solutions and Storyshares as we bring together culturally inclusive and Science of Reading-aligned literacy solutions to empower and transform literacy growth for older striving readers in the third grade and beyond. In this session, educators and school leaders will be empowered to create an engaged school-wide reading culture, using resources that:

Inspire and support students to read independently as they scaffold up their reading skills toward grade-level rigor

Emphasize, strengthen, and codify the foundational skills that students are learning in ELA and in reading intervention programs

Learn best practices, routines, frameworks, and strategies for supporting students with comprehension as they grow their decoding skills

GUEST SPEAKER:
Shira Engel is the Director of Education at Storyshares, a dyslexia specialist, and curriculum creator. She is passionate about culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, social justice through literacy, and educating the whole child.
Shira developed her passion for adolescent literacy when she started teaching middle school humanities and noticed that many of her brilliant students struggled with sounding out words. This experience gave her a deep appreciation for the transformative power of the Science of Reading and literacy advocacy.
